Where Is Eukanuba Dog Food Made?

Where Is Eukanuba Dog Food Made?

Eukanuba dog food is manufactured in Eukanuba’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in Leipsic, Ohio.

It was once Procter & Gamble’s largest production facility. It is so technologically advanced that the processing plant uses metal detectors to sense metals that fall into its food.

The Eukanuba’s official website also states that in 2021, another manufacturing facility was established in Bathurst, Australia, to cater to the needs of the region.

Eukanuba™ will gradually transition the manufacture of its dry diets to the factory in Bathurst, Australia. The only remaining dry diet is Puppy Small Breed, which will be manufactured from the Bathurst Factory in late 2021.

Prior to opening the Australian plant, the company used its manufacturing facilities in the United States and France.

Prior to Australian manufacture, these Eukanuba™ dry diets were made in our factories in France and America.

So, besides the Ohio plant, there seems to be another French manufacturing plant for Eukanuba recipes.

What Company Owns Eukanuba?

Eukanuba is a pet food brand owned by Mars Incorporated and Spectrum Brands.

The latter owns the company’s European markets while the former handles the rest.

Before Mars and Spectrum Brands took over Eukanuba, it belonged to the giant corporation, Procter & Gamble.

They owned Eukanuba between 1999 and 2014 when they sold most of it to Mars. Inc. except for their European section which went to Spectrum Brands.

Eukanuba itself was started by Iams Company in 1969. Paul F. Iams created the brand on the basis that cats and dogs are carnivores and thus should be fed the right kind of diet.

The company claims to use only high-quality meats (mainly lamb and chicken) as the main source of protein in its recipes.

Iams expanded the company and in 1990 sold it to Clay Mathile who later sold it to Procter & Gamble.

Is Eukanuba owned by Royal Canin?

Eukanuba and Royal Canin are separate pet food brands but are both subsidiaries of Mars Incorporated.

Royal Canin has 50+ years of experience in making dog and cat foods.

It was launched by Jean Cathary in 1968 but was later sold to Mars Petcare.

The company manufactures balanced, tailor-made pet foods for different breeds, lifestyles, and life stages.

It also has foods for animals with specific medical conditions such as oral issues, digestive problems, and skin disorders.

Eukanuba was founded in 1969 by the Iams Company and offers high-protein dog food.

It was later bought by Mars Petcare Company.

So, both Royal Canin and Eukanuba are sub-brands of Mars Incorporated. No one company owns the other. They are both in business doing almost the same thing but under different names.

Are Iams and Eukanuba the same company?

Iams and Eukanuba are two confusing brands in the pet food industry.

See, it was Iams Company that launched Eukanuba dog food.

However, it sold it to Procter & Gamble who transferred ownership to Mars Incorporated.

Now, both Eukanuba and Iams sell pet food but they aren’t one at the same company.

Iams food is the more affordable of the two and thus the most known.

When you are looking for quality food with less money, try an Iams recipe.

Else, if you want premium quality food made with super ingredients, Eukanuba has got you.

It also offers a wider range of foods with different formulas for your special pet.

The only downside is that the food is more expensive than Iams.

Although Eukanuba was launched by Iams, they are two different brands now under the same management.

Is Eukanuba dog food made in China?

No. Eukanuba dog food is not manufactured in China.

However, some of its ingredients are sourced from the Asian country.

Granted, most of the ingredients are sourced locally in the United States but a limited amount of the supplements are bought from other countries including China.
